Title:   Sima Fragment

Description:   Broken on right end and along inner edge.
At the left end there remains a trace of a cutting for a half-housing joint.
Cyma reversa type crowned with an ovolo molding. On the front a band of palmettes and lotus buds (?), the design preserved only because the paint prevented its weathering as deeply as the adjoining surface. At the right end the trace of a cutting for a vertical dowel intended to secure the sima to the geison.
From raking side of S.W. corner sima of the Temple of Hephaistos.
Fine grained marble.
