Title:   Sima Fragment with Painted Inscription

Description:   From a raking cornice; the full width preserved at the front, and the full height of the sima; much of the tile remains behind, with part of the right edge, but not the full depth.
Broad red band on soffit. On face, palmette and lotus band between maeander and bead and reel, decoration light against dark red ground. Coarse pink clay; pink to buff slip.
On the top of the tile, large letters of red glaze carefully painted: [Ι Ε Ρ Α
ΑΙ Σ Τ]
