Handle and front half of foot missing.

Moldmade foot with ring handle attached at right ankle, comic-mask spout above heel, and strainer with concave surface pierced with seven holes in top. Mask has knitted brow, fairly high hair roll, triangular mouth trumpet pierced for pouring. The foot wears a sandal with a thick sole, probably originally marked with a painted line. Two relief thongs ending in ivy leaves run down diagonally from spout to arch; another two, possibly double, run from center of instep to arch.

Trace of third strap, much more faint, going from handle towards front of foot. Shiny red-to-black glaze outside, mostly missing, thin red on inside.

For ivy leaf cf. Morrow 1985, pp. 95--96, pl. 76. Cf. also Michaelides 1994, p. 321, pl. 249:γ, from Cyprus, and 1794, an import.
