Left shoulder and arm. Arm, sharply bent at elbow, extends straight out from body. Hand originally held something which rested against shoulder, where there is an unglazed area. Trace of neck at left.

Possible traces of drapery just before break, on shoulder. Arm molded separately in a two-piece mold. A hole pierced to ensure communication between interior of arm and interior of body. Hard, very fine, reddish yellow fabric (7.5YR 7/6) with very little mica; black glaze inside and on front part of arm, back and underside of arm covered with very thin brown glaze.

Cf. an askos in the form of a reclining satyr; there the spout of the vessel is the mouth of the wineskin that the satyr grasps (Hausmann 1962, pp. 280--281, pls. 78:2, 79). Cf. also AvP I, ii, no. 15, p. 272.
