Low, flaring foot; flat resting surface; nearly flat underside. Lower body nearly vertical. Convex shoulder runs smoothly into short, tubular neck with widely flaring rim. Double-grooved strap handle with thumb impression at base. Decoration in brown glaze: band on foot, base of neck, and rim; at angle, broad band with two narrow ones below and one above; on shoulder, three swags wrapped with fillets and tied with round bows. Hard, very micaceous, reddish yellow fabric (7.5YR 7/6); pinkish white slip (7.5YR 8/2).

For the swags see 1511, 1520, 1535; Alt-Ägina II, i, nos. 667, 669, p. 84, pl. 51 (from a grave of the third quarter of the 2nd century); Samos XIV, p. 156, fig. 251:B; Δελτ 28, 1973, B1 1 [1977], p. 527, pl. 497:β (Samos, in context of late 2nd--early 1st century); PF II, F 13, F 14, p. 114, pl. 43 (Pergamon); AvP I, ii, p. 277, Beiblatt 46:6 (Pergamon).

The same composition appears also on a white-ground hemispherical bowl from Chalkis (Δελτ 27, 1972, B1 2 [1977], pp. 340--341, pl. 292:στ).
