Carinated Bowl.

One-fourth of rim and upper wall missing.

Slightly angular ring foot; flat resting surface; convex underside.

Convex lower body meets concave upper body atangle. Floor offset from wall on inside. Thickened rim with two grooves on top.

Rouletting and small central circle on floor. Light reddish brown fabric (5YR 6/4) with white inclusions; shiny black glaze with metallic patches; finger marks on lower body.

Fabric somewhat similar to that of 963. The similarities between this piece, 1740, and 1741 and their contexts suggest that they are probably approximately contemporary, although they are of different fabrics. The rouletted floor and grooved rim are alien to Attic pottery of this period.
