Plastic Vase: Satyr Reclining On A Wineskin.

Broken all around; part of resting surface preserved.

Flat bottom; thin walls. Chubby figure reclines to viewer's right.

He lies on a mattress strewn with drapery that falls in sagging folds along the couch and in vertical folds under his foot, at left. Folds are molded but have been accentuated by gouges after removal from mold. Upper body of figure rests on a wineskin; a round element resembling a mouth appears just to the left of his left hand, which rests upon it. His left leg is bent toward the viewer at the knee (the knee itself is broken away). Two lines at mid-calf suggest he wears a boot. His large belly sags down towards the couch. His flaccid penis lies on his left thigh; his scrotum hangs between his legs. Small bumps above the genitals may indicate curly public hair.

Very fine and hard fabric, with little mica, reddish brown inside (5YR 5/3--5/4), reddish yellow in breaks on outer surface (5YR 6/6); shiny, gritty, black glaze all over exterior, interior unglazed.
