Kissing Couple.

Floor of cup with emblem, broken all around.

Cup rests on ridge (worn); convex underside with spiral.

Six grooves preserved on exterior. Emblem within scraped groove.

Busts of two figures kissing. Female (Ariadne or maenad?) on right with naked left shoulder; trace of drapery or left hand of her partner on her right shoulder. Hair parted in center on crown, with fillet across top of head. Thick curls, perhaps garland, over forehead. On left, male (Dionysos?), with V of garment visible on chest. Thick roll of hair over forehead, with garland of fruit and leaves above.

Female's right hand visible on male's right cheek. Metallic black glaze.

Smaller and reversed: 385. Probably from the same or a closely related mold is Courby 1922, no. 15:B, p. 234, pl. VIII:b (from Delos).
