P 23403 a, b, c

Over half of rim and one-third of lower body (a), plus two large, nonjoining rim fragments (b, c, not illustrated), with fragment b preserving trace of handle. Made in fairly worn mold.

Scraped groove at top of molded body. Wall divided into two registers by cable. Upper register: oinochoe(?) at far left; ribbed krater with spearhead necklace on upper body, flanked by flowers and by groups of Zeus and Ganymede in mirror image; Eros and panther facing right; oinochoe(?); Zeus and Ganymede. Lower register: satyr with hand to beard facing left; goat mask; kneeling satyrs flanking krater or kantharos. Rim pattern: alternating rosettes and fleurs-de-lis; pairs of double spirals; alternating boukrania and palmettes. Painted decoration inside and outside. Outside, on rim: olive garland running right. Stem is two sagging lines with white zigzag line between them; white zigzag lines bordering garland. Single tie at end; double tie with white fillet hanging down at center. Inside: trace of star within scraped groove at center of floor; large wheat garland with incised spikes on rim, with white used for leaves of stem and as dots on wheat heads. Painted line around handle attachment. Very metallic gray glaze; miltos.
