I, symposion(?). At the right break are the draped knee and shin, and below, resting against the reserved line around the tondo, the right foot of a man, reclining. In front of him, a spotted flute case with tassels and just to left of it, part of the mouthpiece-box. Inscribed next to the foot:

Connected with Douris (ARV2 1570, 31); attributed to him by Bothmer during his visit to the Agora in June 1988. An early work. Cf. Vatican, no no., which has a symposiast in the tondo and a similar flute case (ARV2 427, 2; Paralip. 374, 2; Addenda 235; Buitron-Oliver, Douris, pp. 72--73, cat. no. 8, pl. 5).
