Shoulder fragment with black glaze on inside, streaked in places. Glaze fired greenish on outside. Max. dim. 0.061. H. A. Thompson, Hesperia 18, 1949, pl. 45:4.

A, symposion (or komos): woman (head with sakkos, shoulders and upper arms with chiton over them) to right, playing the aulos (a little of the instrument may be seen just below the join of the two fragments). Preliminary sketch. Relief contour.

For a similar but better-preserved aulos-player, see these two by the Leningrad Painter: Trieste S 391 (ARV2 567, 2; Paralip. 390, 2; Addenda 261); Brunswick 269 (ARV2 569, 53). The former is a symposion, the latter, a komos.

Earlier Mannerists, ii: The Leningrad Painter (ARV2 567, 5).
