Wall fragment with start of shoulder. Chips in front of youth. Some abrasion. Max. dim. 0.082.

Youth at tomb. The youth (head, shoulders, right arm outstretched) stands to left, dressed in a chlamys fastened at his right shoulder. At the left is the upper right part of a stele (top of shaft crowned by an oval flanked by akroteria). Above, four lines. Dilute glaze: lines above figures. Matte (pinkish): youth and tomb.

The shape of the stele seems to be a variant on Nakayama's B-V: pediment surmounted by an oval or palmette and flanked by side akroteria (Nakayama, Lekythen, pp. 266--268). On 856, the pediment is omitted and the oval and side akroteria rest directly on top of the shaft.
