Description: | Rim and side of skyphos. Traces of a handle. Red on buff. ADDENDA Inventory on 29 November 2017: 4 body sherds (fragments b, c (mended from two pieces), d (mended from two pieces, and e). From Lot 478, Layers IV (depth 4.60-7m., 5.50-6.70m.), XII B (depth 15-18m.), I (depth 0-3m.). ADDENDA 2018: Eleven sherds mended into five non-joining sections of a large deep bowl with flaring rim and lower attachment from a horizontal handle. The exterior decoration consists of a medium band at the rim and two medium bands running below the handle attachment. Just above the base there is a medium band with two fine lines below it at the junction with the foot (not preserved). The handle zone has a running spiral filled with parallel chevrons, crowned by bird's head protomes. The handle was probably tri-splashed. The interior is monochrome with a narrow reserved band on the interior of the rim. The paint is thick and evenly applied, but fired unevenly red-dark brown.
