Description: | Rim and handle of shallow bowl of tea cup shape. Orange red on buff ground. ADDENDA 2018: Frag. a: five sherds mended into one large fragment joined to original single piece and three non-joining fragments (frags. b - d). Large semi-globular cup with a flaring rim, vertical, rectangular-section handle and raised base. The exterior decoration consists of a narrow lip band with a medium band running below the rim (and under the handle). The upper part of the handle is painted with a single splash of paint. The lower body and foot are reserved. The interior is monochrome. The paint is thick, with regular streaks, fired red. There are no traces of use-wear or burning. Some sort of residue splattered on interior of vessel. Furumark Shape: 215 | |
