Title:   Bone Pin Fragments

Description:   Six fragments of a large hairpin (?).
a) part of curve at top preserved; broken smoothly on shank.
Rounded ends circular in section, thickest at curve.
b) curved section, split and worn.
c) shank section split along grain, or else point of pin: oval end with flat undersurface.
d) some oval and flat under surface preserved. Shank slender in diameter.
e) shank section.
f) slender shank section.
For fragments b-f no direct joins are possible.
Two distinct shaft diameters (0.0004 and 0.0003m.) suggest two pins, but original shape was probably the same.
Late Helladic II-III.
Context:   Mycenaean Chamber Tomb at north side of Temple of Ares. Fragment a) found in lip of pot no. 12.
