Title:   Mortgage Stone Fragment

Description:   Inscribed fragment.
Part of a stele, the top and right side smooth, the back rough but apparently original. The front surface seems to have been defaced deliberately with a chisel, at least the three upper lines.
Dated in the archonship of Demetrios and Kairimos.
Seven lines of the inscription preserved.
Pentelic marble.
Context:   Found in cistern of late 1st. century B.C., northwest of the Church of St. Dionysios the Areopagite.
