Title:   Red Figure Bell Krater

Description:   Many joining fragments preserve about two-thirds of the circumference of the vase, and part of the rim. Filled out with plaster; nothing of the base preserved.
A) Four standing figures: a bearded male; a woman in chiton and stephane, holding a long banded scepter; a youth with chlamys, travelling hat and short staff (top missing; possibly cadeuceus); a second youth, wreathed, with folded cloak over arms, and a long laurel branch in his left hand. (Possibly Zeus, Hera, Hermes and Apollo?) Rocky ground line indicated by light incisions over glaze; between the two youths, a plant. Relief contour for profiles and napes; some brown inner drawing; white, yellowed over, for the ribbon which ties Apollos' wreath, and for the berries on the laurel spray.
B) Three cloaked figures (the central one missing except for his staff). No contours.
Laurel wreath on rim; egg and dot around handles; double palmette ornament between handles and beneath; lower border, on A, dotted checkerboards; on B, dotted X-squares.
Context:   Well.
