Title:   Kantharos: West Slope

Description:   Four non-joining pieces from rim and upper side wall of a large kantharos; nothing of handle or bottom preserved. Restored in plaster. Low slightly flaring rim, deep rounded body. Thinned clay decoration on side: garlands with pendent leaves and dots. Deep grooves scratched through glaze above and below decorated band.
Pinkish-buff clay. Glazed inside and out, fired unevenly red to black.
ADDENDA Fragments added from sherds give more of the wall and a little of the moulded ring foot.
