Title: | Black Figure Cup
Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | About one-third of side, and at least half of rim restored in plaster. Flat disk foot; short stem. On inside, in floor medallion a crouching or running draped figure, of which head has completely flaked off. Three glaze bands around. On outside, probably Dionysiac scene, of which much is missing. An ivy leaf below each handle, and a dancing figure, a satyr(?), on each side of handles. The main scene on best preserved side has two seated figures with a table or couch between. The other side seems to repeat this; a draped figure on the couch. Pinkish-buff clay, some fragments seem to have been burned after breaking; black glaze much worn. Very careless incision, a few possible traces of added color.
