Title:   Vessel with Lid and Incised Decoration

Description:   Small fragments of body and rim restored. Round-bodied pot on ring foot; two lug handles, pierced by string holes, at the rim. The body grooved vertically, from foot to shoulder, on the shoulder, incised decoration of double zigzag; incised zigzag also on lid, and checkerboard on flattened top of knob. Leaf-shaped lid, pierced near the ends to correspond with string holes on body.
Fine clay, with slightly burnished surface. Handmade.
Notes:   All fragments of pot and lid from dump. Lid catalogued at time of finding, pot after going through well, February 1947.
Context:   Cleaning earth from Well 19, Sub-Mycenaean.
