Description:   One handle, part of the other handle, fragments of body and lip missing; restored in plaster. Spherical body, somewhat flattened toward bottom. No base. Broad, low neck, flaring toward top; slightly thickened lip, flat on top and sloping to outside. Two vertical handles from lip to just below neck.
Typical coarse cooking pot fabric; dull red slip; blackened by fire in lower half.
ADDENDA Possibly a Palestinian import? See Crowfoot, et al, Samaria-Sebaste III, p. 130, fig. 12, nos. 11-12 (period VIII, 7th.-6th. c. BC) and p. 229, fig. 41, no. 1 (Hellenistic). Our piece by shape possibly between the two dates (GRE).
