Agora Object: P 16232
Inventory Number:   P 16232
Section Number:   ΕΕ 408
Title:   Bowl: West Slope
Category:   Pottery
Description:   A number of joining fragments, making up into two groups, preserve much of rim and body and some of bottom. Shape very open, walls flare to plain rim. Around body inside, two zones with garlands, yellow and white, set off by three scraped grooves, one below lip, one halfway down wall, and the third around the floor. Upper zone: ivy garland; lower zone: necklace pattern apparently in four large loops, alternating pendent and inverted (parts of three preserved). Incision for the zigzag line which attaches drops to band. On floor, eight-pointed yellow star. Exterior: four grooves around bottom; three at about middle of wall.
Black glaze, somewhat metallic.
ADDENDA I.B. maintains that these two groups of fragments come not from one bowl but from two similar bowls; they have thus not been made up, but are numbered a) and b). This division confirmed by G.R.E., and the fragments renumbered P 16232 (ΕΕ 408a) and P 16232 bis (ΕΕ 408). Perhaps same hand
as P 6243 (S.R.).
