Title:   Kantharos: West Slope

Description:   Much of foot, part of one handle and fragments of rim and body missing; restored in plaster. Shape as P 16233 (ΕΕ 409), the upper wall somewhat more concave, and set off from lower by a scraped groove. West slope decoration on upper half of body: three yellow crosses with white dots in angles, alternating with white dot rosettes. Below, a row of palmettes separated by incised chevrons, each tipped by a white dot rosette; then, three lines.
Glaze fired brownish in places; the white much faded, and the decoration on one side of the body very indistinct.
ADDENDA P 16233: A tall kantharos with plain lip. Upper half of body slightly concave, set off from lower, ovoid, body by a broad shallow groove. Profiled foot. Vertical band handles with plastic ivy leaf on top.
