Description: | Mended from many pieces; about half preserved; the medallion and the profile complete. Restored in plaster. Medallion, Athena Parthenos facing. Around the medallion, pattern of spiral tendrils with flower centers; a similar pattern continues up the wall to near the upper zone, separating the figures. These are, alternately, a biga, right, and a rider on a small horse(?), left. Palmettes, rosettes, and Erotes in the field. Upper zone, guilloche, row of dots, reverse spirals. Black glaze somewhat worn about the top, inside and out. | |
