Title:   Kantharos Fragment
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Mended from four pieces; about three-quarters of the ring foot preserved and a third of the walls; none of the rim. Around the foot, parallel black bands; above, a band of rays, alternately solid black, and black outline with white filling, a swastika between each pair. Above, bordered top and bottom by three lines, a hare and hound chase; the forepart of the hound missing and all of the hare but the feet. Filling ornaments in the field: parallel zigzag lines, suspended pothooks, and conventional grass. At the top of the fragment, set off by a groove, another decorated zone, with a chariot race: part of a chariot and a pair of horse's legs remain.
Pinkish-buff clay; heavy fabric; the glaze dull black. Inside glazed and a glazed ring around the center beneath, within the base.
