Title:   Red Figure Cup Fragment

Description:   Mended from two pieces; part of lower body and wall with attachments of one handle preserved. Outside: lower part of a female figure standing left, wearing chiton and himation. Palmette beneath handle, with elaborate tendrils. Inside: part of medallion surrouned by two pairs of reserved lines. At edge, the end of a bench or table; above, hanging on the wall, an oval object with pointed ends, tied with a string (hat?). At the break, nearer the center, the tips and part of the crossbar of a lyre.
Fussy work, fairly careful; partial relief contours.
Context:   Well, container 1, late 5th. c. B.C. with Hellenistic disturbance.
