Title:   Black Figure Pyxis Fragment

Description:   A tiny part of the rim and a larger section of the curving side is preserved. There is a strong convex bulge to the sides; the rim is indented for the reception of a lid covering it. Depicts lion facing left, braced on his forepaws. His head is turned back over his shoulder. Circles with central dots in the field.
Fine buff clay; brown black glaze. Applied red on neck and belly of lion. Interior of the vase unglazed.
