Title:   Spouted Krater

Description:   Four large joining fragments preserve the complete profile, with all of the foot, part of the wall, and a little of the rim with spout. Nothing of the handles. Partly restored in plaster. Deep open bowl on ring foot; the walls curved in a little at the top; short plain rim; bridged spout.
Interior: streaked red to black glaze. Exterior: a band around the rim and a second bordering the figured zone. The outside of the spout banded; below it an X.
Figured zone marked off into panels by groups of straight lines. At left of spout, horse walking right, facing a water bird. At right of spout, two horses right; then panel stripes. Spiral and chevron filling ornaments. Narrow bands around the body for about two-thirds of its height; then a broad band, a reserved band, and solid glaze continuous over the foot. Underside of foot unglazed.
Clay pinkish with buff surface. Glaze brown to black, somewhat worn.
