Title:   Black Figure Plate Fragment

Description:   Fragment from rim and floor of a large plate; nothing of foot preserved. Narrow rim grooved down its center on the top, offset beneath; floor flat; underside rounded.
Black glaze on outside; a reserved band below the rim and another (part) at break near center. Inside on the rim, the outer ridge reserved, the inner glazed. A glazed band around the floor near the rim. On the floor, decoration in black figure: uncertain subject, possibly a person seated left in a high-backed chair. Rough silhouette work; a little coarse incision. In the field, a single letter(?) in brown.
Context:   Early Byz. fill in S.E. corner of Archaic Building (Fountain House).
