Title:   Hydria Fragments with Plastic Attachment

Description:   Four joining fragments preserve part of neck of hydria or large jug almost to full height with start of shoulder; nothing of rim. Three smaller pieces do not join; upper attachment of vertical handle on b).
Plastic snake around base of neck.
On shoulder, small panels. Vertical zigzag and part of floral motif preserved; all set off by bands. On neck, lower zone, hatched lozenges; above, a procession of draped figures to right; the second figure a flautist; in front of the flautist, next to the handle panel, a female figure; behind him, two more; part of a third on fragment c) next to the other edge of the handle panel. Filling ornament: groups of horizontal zigzags, and a quatre-foil. Handle panel glazed solid. The drapery of the figures drawn in outline; the flautist's cloak once filled with white; the skirts of the female figures divided in half vertically; one half filled with white, the other glazed and covered with added red; plain traces on the first figure; also on the skirt of the figure on fragment c), and probably also on the band around the top of the shoulder.
Pinkish-buff clay; many impurities; black glaze nearly all worn off.
