Title:   Openwork Stand Fragments

Description:   Three non-joining fragments of a large stand; openwork.
a) Panel and part of base. Profile of whole slightly flaring. Thick flaring base of torus-moulding type. Panel separated on the sides by long narrow slits with rounded ends, on top and bottom by grooves. In panel, upright double spiral, beaked. Whole panel surrounded by line. On base one thin line above torus, on torus one broad band, below, two thin lines.
b) Panel with double St. Andrew's cross with the angles closed by double corners to form uneven diamonds.
c) Panel, perhaps from an upper zone. Flaring outward at top. Groove at top; panel surrounded by line; ornaments as in b).
Pinkish-buff, chalky clay. Red glaze, very worn.
Context:   Well.
