Title:   Black Figure Neck Amphora Fragments

Description:   Two non-joining fragments from an amphora(?). Fragment a) from near shoulder.
Zone of animals.
a) Two lions facing each other, looking back. Below, part of back of large animal only preserved.
b) Three paws of an animal (lion or panther) moving left. Below, forepart of panther right, edge of wing on line of break.
Compact incised rosettes for filling ornament. It seems that the zones were divided by glaze bands except the one at the shoulder, which as fragment a) shows, was divided from the one below by a band of strokes between thin bands. Purple on manes, forehead, nose, mouth, eyes, ribs, chest, belly and rosettes.
Inside unglazed. Light reddish clay.
