Title:   Black Figure Hydria

Description:   Mended from several pieces; some missing parts from the body restored in plaster. Rim flat above, concave below; incurved neck; round body; inverted echinus foot; slanting horizontal handles, round in section. Flat vertical handle divided vertically into two halves, the one more projecting than the other.
Red line half way up inside neck; another outside on the neck just above the decorated panel, a third one below it. In the panel: pomegranate band above; chariot to right, two figures standing in it, the nearer one is a youth wearing a himation and holding the reins; another youth standing beside the chariot, grasps the arm(?) of the further figure in the chariot, difficult to say a male or a female; the youth wears a himation. Vine branches in the background. The nearer horse is white; white is also used for stripes on the other horses' manes. Mouth above, inside of handles, lower part of profile of foot and underside of it, reserved. Neck glazed inside.
Pinkish-buff clay. Thin glaze lost its lustre in places.
