Title:   Krater Fragments with Relief Decoration: West Slope
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Many joining fragments preserve about one-quarter of rim and upper side; two small rim fragments do not join. A flaring rim with west slope decoration has been added to body of a large Megarian bowl. Outside of rim decorated with garlands in added clay and white paint. Inside of rim with a wreath of bearded wheat in added clay and white with the "beards" incised. Poor impression of relief decoration on main walls.
At top a border in two bands: in upper zone, rosettes and boukrania, above spirals; below, alternating boukrania and palmettes. Below this, a wide zone with scenes of revelry: large kantharos in center, figures to either side; a rope moulding separates this from a second figured zone, of which traces remain.
Brownish-buff clay. Metallic glaze.
