Title:   Amphora with Glaze Decoration: Rhodian

Description:   Mended from several pieces; fragment of shoulder, wall and rim missing and restored in plaster. Small amphora on heavy flaring ring base; wall a double curve; high shoulder; tall wide neck tapering slightly towards top; neck set off from shoulder by a sharp ridge, a ridge also below the rim; projecting flat-topped rim; band handles, rising slightly, from neck ridge to outer edge of shoulder.
Pinkish-buff clay; thin fabric. Reddish-brown glaze on exterior of foot and on lower wall; for a broad band at point of greatest circumference (junction of shoulder and wall), on the rim and the top of the neck, inside and out, and on the tops of the handles.
Context:   Cistern draw-shaft, bottom; Stoa Terrace at Piers 11-12. Context ca. 350-325 B.C. (?).
