Description: | About one-half of the circumference of a large hollow base is preserved; only the lower edge of the foot is chipped away. Mended from two pieces. Broken at the top as well. The foot consists of two tori and a scotia, with the upper torus considerably less in diameter than the lower. Above the upper mouldings, the wall of the foot slopes in abruptly to a narrower stem. Gray clay; soapy gray-black glaze above and below. Bucchero? An additional fragment, completing the circle of the base, was found on 8 April 1938. Ash gray biscuit with black, polished surface. | |
