Title:   Black Figure Lekythos Fragment

Description:   Upper half, except back wall, preserved. General type, as far as preserved, as P 24316 (ΣΑ 2526): This is the characteristic general type for the large proportion of the lekythoi from this group. Bell mouth with variations in height and spread; lip usually reserved, occasionally glazed. Disk foot of varying thickness; below picture either one or two reserved lines. Added colors more or less well preserved. Only substantial variations are noted in the following descriptions.
Shoulder: strokes above rays.
Scene: Herakles right grappling the lion (lower half of picture missing); bow, arrow and garments hanging in field.
Same hand as P 24499 (ΣΑ 2709).
Context:   Well beneath Stoa gutter.
