Title:   Amphora Fragments: Official Measure

Description:   a) Single fragment preserves rim, with a part of neck and shoulder and upper attachment of one handle. Projecting collared rim, the upper and lower edges rounded. Short neck forming continuous curve with rounded shoulder. Handle attachment just below rim. On the neck inside, at the line of the lower edge of the rim along one side, a small projecting ledge, chord ca. 0.09m., maximum projection ca. 0.015m. Outside, thin glaze wash; inside and on rim, black glaze, much worn on the top of the rim.
b) From tins of the same well, giving base and part of lower wall. Fairly high, straight-sided ring foot. Bands of brown glaze around wall.
Public measure? The ledge giving the height for filling? Suggested by W. Schiering.
