Title:   Black Figure Column Krater Fragments

Description:   Four non-joining fragments.
a) Mended from three pieces. Upper wall fragment preserving traces of one handle and part of the tongue pattern on the shoulder. It preserves the right end of the picture: part of a wing and most of a sphinx, to left. Left of sphinx, part of wing.
b) Lower half of a draped man to right. At right edge of an oval shield, a female foot to left.
c) Parts of two round shields and legs, the one at the right wearing greaves. The device of the better preserved shield is the forepart of a horse. Device of other shield uncertain.
d) Leg wearing greaves, a wing, and part of a tail of a bird, both left.
Glazed inside. Added red and white.

Context:   Excavation of cellar at no. 110 Hermes Street; trench for cellar wall.
