Title:   Black Figure Skyphos

Description:   Both handles, three quarters of the rim, large pieces from the sides and about a quarter of the base restored in plaster. On each side, two maenads, dancing away but looking back at each other, between two satyrs, both dancing right. No incision. White for the maenads' flesh, for the one preserved satyr-tail and for the fruit of the filling vines. Red for the satyrs' beards and the fillets. White and red(?) for dots on the dresses. At the top of the figured panel, a double row of dots above a stripe of glaze; at the bottom, two stripes of glaze.
The junction of the body and foot reserved; also the lower edge of the foot, outside, and the resting surface. The bottom of the cup within the foot reserved, with circle and dot decoration. Reserved also, a band around the inner edge of the lip.
The black glaze very thick but not particularly lustrous.
