Title:		Black Figure Cup Fragments

Description:		Mended from many pieces. The base complete, the rim preserved in five places; handles missing. Interior: Bearded man dancing left and looking back right; nude save for a folded cloak; the medallion bordered by five narrow stripes of dilute glaze. A. Combat scene of Greek and Amazon flanked by winged horses, right. Left to right: horse; lower part of warrior; Amazon with crested helmet kneeling right, looking back left, her shield outstretched toward her opponent; horse. Vines in field. B. Apparently as A. Parts of both horses and the leg of the warrior preserved. The figured zone bordered top and bottom by lines of dilute glaze. Reserved: a band at the inner edge of the lip; a band on the outside below the figured zone; the outer edge of the foot, and the resting surface and the top part of the stem, inside. Traces of pink wash on the foot. White for the fruit of the vines; for the Amazon's flesh; for decoration on her helmet and shield; and for dots along the base of the horses' wings. All much faded. Red for the horses' manes and a stripe on the shoulder; possibly also on the warrior's garment. Scanty and indifferent incision. Cf. P 2570.
