Title:   Black Figure Skyphos

Description:   Mended from many pieces; about half the rim, one handle, half of the other, large pieces of the walls, and a small bit of the foot missing. Restored in plaster.
A. Below a vine-dot border, a man leading a horse, right. Large eyes flank the handles.
B. Largely missing; seems to have been identical with A.
White for the horse's mane and for dots on his nose. Red for the horse's tail, the man's fillet and part of his short cloak.
A black line at the top of the scene and a brown one between the dots. Below the scene, two black bands and a brown one between. Broad band at junction of foot and body reserved with a moulded ring just above the foot. The reserved area decorated with drops of glaze (rays?) below several fine brown lines. Inside of handles reserved and a narrow band at inner edge of rim. The foot is flat on the top outside; inside, high and flaring. The resting surface is reserved as is the space within the foot, which is decorated with two concentric circles around a central dot.
The black glaze on the inside is fired red toward the bottom, as if from stacking. At the center is a circular space reserved with two concentric circles of glaze.
