Title:   Black Figure Column Krater Fragments

Description:   Numerous joining fragments make up two pieces.
a) Wall fragment: warrior running between mantle figures.
b) Wall, shoulder and neck fragment: satyrs and maenads. A satyr at the left pursues three maenads, the foremost two of which look back with left hands raised. Degenerate tongues above scene.
Red for forelock and beard of satyr; spots on all garments, stripe on cloak of maenad at the right, stripe on casque of warrior. White for sword strap, device (two balls) on shield of warrior, flesh of women, dotted pattern on the cloak of the maenad on the left. Thin brown glaze inside. Interior of neck glazed.
Context:   Soft yellow poros foundation; fill north of west end; hole in bedrock.
