Title:   Black Figure Skyphos

Description:   Mended from many pieces and restored in plaster. Sides A and B the same: quadriga between palmettes. Woman mounting chariot with man standing beside it. Arrangement of chariot and horses uncertain. A curved yoke-pole(?) extends from the bottom of the chariot to a point over the middle of the horses' bodies; to it is fastened an upright which passes between the horses. In front of this upright is another, not evidently fastened to anything, but extending from above and behind the horses' backs, to the groundline.
White for women's flesh, one horse on each side and parts of yoke(?) of chariot. Red for horses' manes, parts of harness and of chariot yoke(?); for fillet on men's heads, and ornaments on women's garments.
Reserved: narrow band below handle zone, inside of rim, resting surface and space within foot; the latter decorated with three glaze circles around a central dot.
