Title:   Black Glaze Skyphos: Corinthian Type

Description:   "Corinthian" type; thin fabric, with sloping ring foot. Mended from many pieces and restored in plaster. Reserved, the insides of the handles and the handle-spaces, the band around the bottom of the cup and the space beneath, inside the ring foot, the latter decorated with a circle. The 'rays' are simply single straight strokes, resembling relief lines. Just below the handles, two narrow bands of added red.
The glaze has fired black around the rim, but below, both inside and out, it is a bright sealing-wax red.
