Title:   Black Figure Skyphos Fragments

Description:   Mended from many pieces; two others, one mended from two pieces, do not join. None of the rim preserved; a small piece of the heavy ring foot on the larger piece.
A. Figure mounting chariot; lower half of figure and outstretched arms preserved as well as the chariot wheel and the hind quarters of the horses. Beside the horses, traces of a female figure, right. On the non-joining fragment b), Dionysos, the upper part of the figure preserved, stands facing, looking left; at the left edge of the fragment, the noses of the horses belonging to the chariot. Vines in the field.
B. Lower half of Hermes walking right toward a white water bird, presumably beneath the handle.
Fragment c) preserves part of the legs of a second figure of Hermes, (possibly preceding Dionysos on side A?).
Red for horses' tails, spots on Hermes' garment, Dionysos' beard and spots on his garment. White for Dionysos' garland, stripes on the garments, the bird beneath the handle.
The glaze fired red on the lower part of the pot; black on the upper part above the stacking line; red inside.
