Title:   Pyxis with Lid Fragments

Description:   a) body, b) part of bottom, c) part of lid, d) handle. Pyxis: about two-thirds of wall and complete profile preserved; partly restored in plaster. Lid: about half preserved; completely restored in plaster; handle almost complete.
Pyxis: two zones zigzag, hatched maeander, gear, dogtooth. Bottom: gear, hatched St. Andrew's cross.
Lid: dogtooth, gear, glaze and reserved bands. Handle: stem glazed in reserved rings; chevrons on finial, very top ringed.
Hard pinkish-buff clay. Some sherds gray from smoke. Excellent lustrous brown to black glaze.
Middle Geometric.
Context:   Grave.
