Title:   Moldmade Bowl

Description:   Mended from numerous pieces. Wall fragments and about one-fifth of rim missing. Restored in plaster. Central medallion: Gorgon head surrounded by pointed leaves, with darts between tips of leaves. Lower wall, six rows of small veined leaves surmounted by alternating birds and masks. Frieze, hunting scene. Figure with sling facing right; a bird; a dog charging right; another dog felling a stag turned to look back over its shoulder, a bird above it; a second figure, winged, with sling, facing right; a charging dog with bird above it; a leopard or panther (spotted) charging right and looking back over its shoulder; two more birds; a lion charging right; a bird; a figure on horseback advancing left. Above, a band divided by four panels, each with a bird flying left. The band itself is alternating crosshatches and chevrons. Above: spirals surmounted by anthemia. Reserved line for miltos, now missing. Beautifully executed with remarkable detail.
Glaze reddish to black.
