Title:   Jug Fragments
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Foot, most of lower body and one fourth of neck and rim missing. Three non-joining body sherds preserved. Capacious jug with high, rounded shoulder. Cylindrical neck decorated with widely spaced spiral grooves, with eight to nine grooves from base of neck to just below rim. Projecting rim, horizontal and flat on top. Thick handle with two grooves in outer surface runs from shoulder to rim.
Fairly hard, very micaceous, friable fabric with large flecks of golden mica, 2.5 YR 5/4 in break. Hard red gloss on exterior, ca. 2.5 YR 6/8.
Import, perhaps from Asia Minor coast.
Hellenistic.
