Title:   Black Figure Skyphos Fragment

Description:   Fragment from wall of large vase. To the right, a figure draped in a cloak, seated on a cross-legged stool. Figure facing right; top of body and front of legs missing. The stool is tipped sharply forward, the lower part of the front leg of the stool being represented as considerably shorter than the back leg. At the left edge of the fragment, behind the seated figure is one leg, and traces of another, belonging to a standing figure. Beneath the figures is a band of orange-red glaze, defined by two incised lines, 0.014m. apart, but spreading out a little on either side of them.
Clay Attic; fine black glaze inside, turning to red at the bottom of the fragment. Sparing use of incision; white paint for dots on borders of garment, and on chair. Purple stripe on hanging end of garment.
